Antiviral. Tablet forms are indicated for the treatment and prophylaxy of infections caused by Herpes Zoster and Herpes Simplex viruses. Cream form is indicated for the treatment of infections of initial genital Herpes and Herpes labialis in skin.
Tablet:
H. zoster: 800mg should be administered 5 times in a day (except bedtime) in every 4 hours for 7 days.
H. simplex: 200mg should be administered 5 times in a day (except bedtime) in every 4 hours for 5 days.
Recommended dose for prophylaxy is 200mg in every 6 haours (4 times in a day)
Cream: should be topically applied as a thin film over the lesions 6 times a day for a period of 7 days.
